Ages 6–8

Jam Band, group instrument classes, and private lessons help beginners and growing musicians build skills through songs, games, and collaboration.

Ages 9–11

Bands, group instrument classes, and private lessons help students develop stronger musicianship, creativity, and confidence.

Teens

Band classes and private lessons give teens a place to build musicianship, write songs, perform, and play the music they love.

Adults

Private lessons and band classes for complete beginners, returning players, and experienced musicians ready to make music with others.

Music Lessons Should Feel Like Making Music

At BMF, students don’t spend all their time doing drills or learning songs in isolation.
They learn by creating, listening, collaborating, and actually making music.

Learn Through Music-Making

Students build rhythm, melody, harmony, ear training, theory, and technique through songwriting, music games, and real musical experiences.

Create With Other Musicians

Playing with others teaches students to listen, contribute, collaborate, and become more confident musicians.

Make Something That Matters

Original songs, performances, recordings, and supportive teachers give students meaningful goals—and a reason to stay excited about music.

After-School Lessons and classes

At Brooklyn Music Factory, we learn music through songwriting, games, and making music with others. Learn an instrument in a group class or a private lesson, write and play original songs with a band, or both. Regardless, students develop the skills and confidence they need to make, share, and enjoy music with other people—for a lifetime. We are a community of music lovers—and believe learning music can and should be fun, creative, and inspiring. Ages 4-Adult.

“My kids love your approach—not endless repetition and drilling on scales, but jumping right into making and playing songs.”

Music Camps Where Kids Create, Play & Perform

At BMF camps, kids join a band, write original songs, play music games, and get creative in our fully equipped studios. Campers make music together, enjoy outdoor time, and finish by sharing the music they created.

Musicians big and small are encouraged to develop their path in their own unique way. This is a place for budding musicians that are internally driven by their love of music and the joy they get from developing their skills and collaborating with others. Our multi-instrument musician has been taught and mentored by BMF for almost 10 years.

We just picked our kiddo (4 year old) up from his second day of Spring Break camp at BMF. Yesterday he said it was the best camp ever. I wanted to make sure before I shared my review, so I asked again today, and he said he had even more fun! We have been a BMF family for many years with my older kids (and have only great things to say about the music lessons!), but this is our first round of camp with a little one. He tends to be shy and anxious to try new things, but he said he loved the teachers and he made friends. He has been humming his original song all afternoon, and his only complaint is that eventually we have to go back to school and cannot go back to camp until this summer. I love the flexibility they offer in scheduling and that they spend time outside. He is happy and tired at the end of the day...I cannot ask for more than that!

We took our daughter here for a single-day song-writing camp and she had an absolute blast. We worried about whether she’d feel alone since she went in not knowing anyone else and having never stepped foot in the music factory. But she eased right in.

Our kiddo LOVES Brooklyn Music Factory. The counselors are fun, knowledgeable, and bring out the best in the kiddos. The livestreams of their performances is brilliant. It's been wonderful to see our kiddo grow in their music making and confidence at all the same time. Thanks BMF!!

Built in Brooklyn. Built Around Making Music Together.

Brooklyn Music Factory was founded in 2010 by Brooklyn parents, musicians, and longtime educators. Songwriting, music games, and playing music together have been at the heart of BMF from the beginning.

We believe learning music should be fun, creative, social, and inspiring—and that students become stronger musicians when they have opportunities to create and share music with other people.
