Rock, Write, Record: Where Kids Become Real Musicians

Looking for a music program where your child doesn’t just take lessons—but actually writes songs, plays in a band, and records their own music?

At Brooklyn Music Factory, our Rock, Write, Record curriculum is designed for kids and teens ages 9–17 to experience the full creative journey:

This is where music production becomes meaningful—because students are producing their own songs, not just learning software.

From First Idea to Final Recording

Music production is powerful—but only when it’s connected to real music-making.

In Rock, Write, Record, students don’t start with screens.
They start with ideas, instruments, and collaboration—then bring those songs into the studio.

Inside the Program:

Students create original songs using proven templates and guided creativity

Collaborate with peers on drums, guitar, piano, bass, and vocals

Learn how to track, layer, and produce their own music

Recording, editing, and mixing—applied to their own songs

Live shows, recordings, and music videos that families can actually experience

Students aren’t just learning—they’re finishing songs they’re proud of.

Why Production Works Better Inside Rock, Write, Record

Most production programs teach tools first.

We flip that.

 Write → Play → Record

By the time students enter the studio, they:

That’s why production skills stick—and why students feel real ownership over their work.

Musicians big and small are encouraged to develop their path in their own unique way. This is a place for budding musicians that are internally driven by their love of music and the joy they get from developing their skills and collaborating with others. Our multi-instrument musician has been taught and mentored by BMF for almost 10 years.

We just picked our kiddo (4 year old) up from his second day of Spring Break camp at BMF. Yesterday he said it was the best camp ever. I wanted to make sure before I shared my review, so I asked again today, and he said he had even more fun! We have been a BMF family for many years with my older kids (and have only great things to say about the music lessons!), but this is our first round of camp with a little one. He tends to be shy and anxious to try new things, but he said he loved the teachers and he made friends. He has been humming his original song all afternoon, and his only complaint is that eventually we have to go back to school and cannot go back to camp until this summer. I love the flexibility they offer in scheduling and that they spend time outside. He is happy and tired at the end of the day...I cannot ask for more than that!

We took our daughter here for a single-day song-writing camp and she had an absolute blast. We worried about whether she’d feel alone since she went in not knowing anyone else and having never stepped foot in the music factory. But she eased right in.

Our kiddo LOVES Brooklyn Music Factory. The counselors are fun, knowledgeable, and bring out the best in the kiddos. The livestreams of their performances is brilliant. It's been wonderful to see our kiddo grow in their music making and confidence at all the same time. Thanks BMF!!
